Concepts in Metal was founded in 1995 by Philip Newman.

Prior to setting up Concepts in Metal, Philip worked in the petrochemical industry for 25 years as a specialised fabricator and welder. The welding was to the very highest standards in Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Copper, and Steel etc.

As the name suggests, Concepts in Metal is able to offer a service that can turn your ideas into reality using a range of metals.

In 2004 Concepts in Metal were approached by a client in the construction industry, whereby they were asked if they could construct a lightweight “clothes hanger/basket” suitable for drying clothes and footwareon site in specialised drying rooms. The thoughts behind this is, instead of having both personal lockers and a seperate drying rooms, for when clothes get wet, this method acheives both in one room, significatly saving on space and cost..

The actual “clothes hanger/basket” concept has been about for some time, and was popular in the 70s/80s for storing outdoor clothes in the changing rooms at swimming pools, etc.

However, the construction industry, not satisfied with what was already on the market e.g. steel hanger/baskets weighing approximately 10kgs, wanted a robust but lightweight hanger to meet ALL current health and safety requirements. Also these hanger/baskets would need to be either hung on rails or freestanding on shelves, thus allowing better air circulation for quick drying - see reviews.

Concepts in Metal constructed a “clothes hanger/basket” in aluminium at a weight of just 1.4kgs!

Following the prototype being presented to the client, the “lightweight clothes hanger/baskets” concept was immediately adopted.

Since the initial supply of HangerRack, our client continues to use this method of drying on many of their sites across the U.K.

This method of “fast drying” has been adopted by many of our Countries major construction companies, whom we now supply. Where security is becoming more of an issue (all contents inside the basket are visable to the cloakroom attendent)

This form of clothing storage is very versatile, and lends itself to many other applications such as swimming Pools, Sprorts Complexes, Aquestrian centre's, Ski slopes, to mention just a few.

To complete the range, we can also supply and fit the rails for the clothes hangers, which can also be hung on a two-tier rail system (where height allows).
